Well, that was an interesting weekend.
There’s nothing like sitting over a glass of wine with fellow creatives to focus your attention on the important things in life. Nothing.
As of today – Saturday, August 11/2018, I’m officially retiring as a full-time garden writer.
What About The Premium Members?
The Premium members at DougGreensGarden will continue to get responses to questions as soon as possible (usually within a few hours.)
I will continue to produce 4 posts a week for these folks. All video production will focus on their articles.
Bottom line: they pay me for my time and I’m going to continue to produce for them.
How Much Time Will I Devote To Garden Writing For The General Public?
One post a month. (It all depends on the amount of time I have left after doing the Premium work)
Or, as many as I feel like.
Maybe more in the gardening season and far fewer when there’s snow on the ground.
Good question though – no real answer to it – but a good question nevertheless.
What About Your Previous Post?
The timeline for rebuilding SimpleGiftsFarm has just been extended into the future. And yes, this is a change in attitude but as I wrote in a previous post, “Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.”
The last sentence of that post said, “In 2019, the amount of time I spend creating content for all my gardening sites will be determined by how much money they produce.”
All I’ve done is moved that timeline up a bit.
What Are You Going To Do In Your Retirement?
Who said I was retiring?
I’m continuing to write but moving to fiction.
I will officially be a full-time fiction writer and a part-time garden writer.
Where’s Your Fiction Writing?
Well, that’s a long story but if you’re interested in the genres I write in, sooner or later I hope you find me. It’s not that they’re secret, I simply want to have them develop independently of my gardening career.
Thanks for reading.
Damn, but I can hardly wait to see what I decide to do next…
